Mugler made headlines last year with the appointment of Nicola Formichetti as creative director of the brand. Oh, and of course, Lady Gaga as a runway addition. The jackets and strong shoulders that came down the catwalk were very Mugler, and Formichetti brought darkness and edge to the “post-human android-goddess”.
Fast forward three seasons: Formichetti and Romain Kremer brought the ocean to Spring. Seafoam and coral added depth to blacks, whites and greys. My favorite detail? Digital cutouts. If the ladies get to show off some skin in the heat, why cant we?
As I’ve said before, all collections should be buy now, wear now. Although tanlines from cutouts would be no fun..
