Designer Todd Snyder has been working behind-the-scenes for quite some time now.. he helped re-define menswear as J.Crew’s men’s director of design in the 2000s. He left in 2008 to start his collection and re-introduced his namesake label in 2011.

When I received the invitation to Snyder’s most recent presentation, I did a double take when I saw the address. I knew of LV Wood as a wood & floor furnishing shop, thanks to my friends in the interior design and home improvement world. It couldn’t have been a mistake so I trekked into Flatiron to check out the fall presentation. When I walked in.. I knew I was in the right place. Location is everything.

You can still see Snyder’s love of quality materials and English tailoring but the collection was balanced by knits and more casual elements.

Its always interesting to read the secrets of success from the successful. Hilary Kerr of Who What Wear shares hers with Glamour Magazine:

It’s not a dress but I would say the shade of red comes close. But other than that.. aren’t you surprised that I’m wearing color? And not just any color.. but red? Who am I?

I stopped by Saks Fifth Avenue to drop off some things and I decided to check out the consolidation sale. And from across the floor, I instantly spotted this stunner.

To be honest, whenever I go shopping, I secretly wish that my size isn’t available. It is easier that way.. if they don’t have my size, I don’t have to contemplate the purchase!

A part of me said to walk away. But, of course, the better part of me won and I walked over to try the coat on. And as you can see, it did fit.

My wallet is a bit lighter but there is a spring in my step and the red really brightens up my day. Wouldn’t you say?
