Sofia was an easy transition back from Bodrum, but a little slow for this city dweller. Berlin was an exhilarating two week whirlwind and the perfect change of pace to get me back in the swing of things. What made this first trip to Berlin so memorable? Glorious sunny weather, delicious eats in Mitte, Kreuzberg, and Neukölln, nights out in Friedrichshain and Schöneberg, unique personal style, the rich history alive in the people, music and art, and etched into the architecture, monuments and museums.. the list goes on.
Berlin’s culture and vibe have been compared to that of New York City for quite some time now, and it is still partially true. From the beginning of my stay, I felt like I was back home in New York and I easily settled back into a familiar routine of morning workout (gym, yoga or pilates) work, an evening On The Run Tour, dinner and drinks with friends and a random night out (at Berghain, of all places!). I wish I could have stayed a little longer but there is still so much to see on my world tour. And if I hadn’t left when I did, I don’t think I would have been able to leave for a good year or two.. Berlin, I’ll be coming back for you.
